An outline planning application for up to 90 new homes at Bretforton Road in Badsey was submitted by Landform to Wychavon District Council in May 2023 and a public consultation is currently being held. The details of this can be found via the following link: jtp.co.uk/projects/badsey and freephone 0800 012 6730.
The site is allocated for housing in the draft Wychavon District Council Local Plan, which is currently progressing through its final stages. The Regulation 19 Stage is due to be completed in late summer/autumn 2023.
Badsey is a pretty village with a population of around 2,700 and lies a few miles to the east of Evesham on the River Avon in Worcestershire.
The site adjoins the existing Badsey settlement boundary and currently comprises an area of brownfield land in use as workshops and hard standing, an area for market gardening with the remainder unused open backland.
The development proposals represent a logical extension to the existing village and will provide a high-quality housing scheme with large areas of public open space and play.
In addition, the scheme will deliver an improvement at the Bretforton Road/Birmingham Road junction, together with a new 3.2m wide dedicated footpath/cycleway connecting the north eastern part of the village through to the village centre, together with improvements to nearby existing footpaths.
The new footpath and cycleway will create a safe, pleasant and sustainable non-vehicular route for pupils going to Badsey First School, for access to the Sports and Recreation Club and for general access to the village centre shops.
